The Wales Veterans' Football Association were proud to welcome a mixed-aged French touring side from the Rennes region of France to face a Wales o45s squad in Cardiff...writes manager, Paul Richards...
On a very hot day at the Leckwith Campus, Wales took the game to the touring side and boasted the lion's share of the possession, and although a rare mistake in defence allowed the French striker to score the opening goal, this was quickly cancelled out and Wales went on to score 12 unanswered goals from Steve Lewis (Upper Rhondda) 4, Ben Bannon (Penydarren ) 3, Del Patel (Briton Ferry Llansawel) 2, Craig Roberts (Barry Town) 1, Garon Davies (Barry Town) 1, Chris Harding (Briton Ferry Llansawel) 1.
The manager enthused “this was a cracking performance from the squad of 16 led by Barry Town’s Jamie Maher, and further proof of the strength in Wales Veterans Football”
