Llanelli move into poll position after Continental slip-up.!

1st February
LLanelli Town beat Penybont 1-4 and took a step closer to retaining their o50s League crown...writes Chris Davies... In a fine game, played in the right spirit at Pencoed College, Penybont missed a chance to take an early lead with Powell sky-ing a penalty, although they took the lead shortly afterwards through Andy Davies. Llanelli hit back with 2 opportunist goals from Rocke to lead at half time. Llanelli were the better team in the 2nd half and Rocke completed his hat-trick before Bartley notched his customary goal to seal the victory.
The Continental suffered a title set-back with a 1-2 defeat away to Merthyr. Summers gave the visitors the lead but two second half goals by Carl Evans and Walsh sealed the points for the hosts at Afon Taf School.
Cardiff Accies secured an excellent 2-4 win away to Newport at Cardiff University Fields. Cullen, Pinkard, Fenton and Paul Williams were on target with Fredriksen replying for the hosts with a brace.

18th January
The match BIG between LLanelli Town and The Continental ended 1-1...writes Nigel Delaney... Llanelli welcomed The Continental to Penrhos for this much anticipated clash between the top two! The hosts had plenty of possession and chances but failed to convert. They went ahead through Cerison Davies early in second half and The Continental battled hard and got their reward when Craig Evans equalised with 10 minutes remaining to secure a share of the spoils and keep the League exciting.
Swansea ran out emphatic 5–0 winners over Cardiff Accies...writes Millsy....The Swans scored through Kerr (penalty), Morgan (2), Taneja and Damian Evans against their under strength visitors who competed until the final whistle.
Nelson won 4-1 against Pontyclun at a soggy Wern...writes Tony Wilding... Despite having more possession Nelson fell behind to a Ryan Flood goal on 10 minutes. Nelson equalised just after half time through Nick Rees. Lee Bowgen then scored the goal of the game from a great Rees cross. Nelson scored two goals in the last 10 minutes from a Bounds penalty and a Harford close finish.
Merthyr swapped places in the table with their opponents after a fine 5-2 win away to Penybont with Walsh (3), Manning and John on target. Griffiths got a brace for the hosts.

11th January 2026
The Continental recorded a convincing 4-1 win over Merthyr Tydfil and stay level on points with League leaders, Llanelli Town. Wigley, McNamara, Craig Evans and Thompson were on target for the hosts and John scored a consolation for the visitors.
Llanelli Town were handed a 3-nil win when opponents, Swansea conceded.

4th January
Llanelli Town defeated Newport 9-4 and move into top slot after a great game at Penrhos School....writes 'Nige'.....The hosts took an early lead through Neil Williams and scored four further goals before the interval through Bartley, Justin Williams and Neil Williams, who completed his hat-trick before half-time.
In the second half, Bartley completed his hat-trick, Williams scored his 4th and McClarnan made it 9. Newport never gave up and scored 4 very good second-half goals themselves including a Willis hat-trick and a Watkins strike.

Swansea claimed the points after a narrow win over Cardiff Accies....writes Stuart Hitchings... In a competitive game played in good spirit, Accies took the lead through a Newton goal early in the first half, Swansea equalised just before half time through Taneja. In the 2nd half Swansea took the lead through Morgan, which was enough to secure the win for the visitors.

21st December
The Continental maintained the top spot with a convincing 0-3 victory away to Pontyclun with goals by Wigley, ‘Elf’ Scanlan and Craig Evans.
Penybont maintained their title challenge with a comfortable 7-2 win against Nelson. Griffiths (3), Andrew Davies, Savage, Jordan and Wells were on target for the hosts, with Troy Roberts getting a brace for Cavaliers. Merthyr thrashed Cardiff Accies 12-0 at The Bont with goals by Lynch (3), Carl Evans (3), Edwards (2), Rees (2), John and Shane Davies.

7th December
The Continental, beat Penybont 3-1 at Eastern High School and move to the top of the table...writes Andrew Kempton... "A Chris summers hat-trick won the game for the hosts but Penybont did go down to 10 men in the first half and were superb after that and we weren't great. Maggs replied for the visitors."
Llanelli Town’s fine 4-1 home win over Merthyr Tydfil sees them hot on the heels of the League leaders on goal difference. Williams and Bartley grabbed a brace-a-piece with Harrison getting a consolation for the visitors.
Newport recorded a convincing 5-1 home win against Swansea with a Gambarini hat-trick and a brace by Watkins.
An end to end game at Leckwith Sports Stadium saw Cardiff Academicals beating Pontyclun 2-3. Pinkard, Maidment and Mears were on target for the Accies, Griffiths and Grant replied for Pontyclun.

23rd November
Penybont stay top courtesy of 7-0 thumping of Cardiff Accies with goals by Powell (2), Davies, Vickery, Lyn Griffiths, Ben Griffiths and Taylor.
Nelson Cavaliers welcomed The Continental to Heolddu...writes Tony Wilding... The hosts started brightly and Vest put them ahead in the first minute with a great strike from distance. Continental gradually got themselves back into the game and equalised on 20 mins through Manley from close range, assisted by Thompson. Scanlan got their second on 30 mins, from another Thompson assist and then Thompson nipped in himself to put his team 1-3 up at HT.
The second half was back and forth with both sides creating chances. Nelson missed an opportunity to make it 2-3 from the penalty spot and Continental scored a 4th goal on the final whistle from Govier, assisted by Evans. Cavs Mom - Hill, Continental Mom - Thompson.

Pontylun entertained Llanelli Town at a blustery Pencoed....writes Dave Keane....Two early goals from Blackford and Bartley put the visitors in control. A further brace from Bartley in the second half saw Llanelli cruise to a 4-0 victory in a game played in great spirits.

9th November
Hosts, Swansea conceded 9 without reply against a clinical Merthyr with goals by Manning (2), Rees (2), Walsh (2), John, Morris and Jones.
Nelson secured a fine 2-5 away win to Cardiff Accies in an enjoyable game at Cardiff University fields...writes Stuart Hitchins..."Accies started well with a goal from Nigliazzo chipping the Nelson keeper. Nelson equalised from a Rees goal and scored a 2nd soon after from Wilding and a 3rd from Roberts. Carl Allsopp converted a penalty for the Accies, to make it 2-3 at halftime. Two early goals in the 2nd half from Bounds cemented the win for Nelson before Fenton grabbed a late goal for Accies."
Newport and Pontyclun fought out a hard-earned draw at Cardiff University fields with Griffiths on target for Pontyclun and Thomas replying for the hosts.

27th October
Penybont stay top after a convincing 1-7 win against a battling Newport side....Chris Davies writes...The hosts dominated the match and were worthy winners with Ben Griffiths (4), Steve Powell (2) and Chris Davies on target and Newport grabbing a late consolation.

Llanelli Town secured an emphatic 9-0 win over Nelson Cavaliers at Penrhos through Davies (5), McClarnan, Justin Williams, Legg and Neil Williams.

A good 1-2 win for Pontyclun away at Swansea with Conway and Wilson on target and Morgan scoring for the hosts.

12th October
Penybont maintained their unbeaten run with an emphatic 4-1 win against Swansea....writes Chris Davies... Good game played in the right spirit as it always is against our old friends from Swansea. Penybont fielded a strong squad and started strongly but struggled to break down a resolute Swansea defence. Ceri Thomas opened the scoring with a back-post bullet header before Swansea capitalised from a defensive error with an emphatic finish by Hughes to level. Two Ben Griffiths headers either side of half time put the game in Penybont favour with a composed finish from Dean Taylor sealing the points.

Title holders, Llanelli Town, were held to a 1-1 draw away to last year’s r/up, The Continental...writes Andrew Kempton... Outstanding game of vets football,, could have gone either way in the end, a draw was a fair result with Evans on target for the Reds and McNamara replying for Conti!

Nelson claimed a 2-0 win over Newport on a heavy Wern pitch..writes Tony Wilding... "Newport started with attacking football but found Nelson resolute in defence. The hosts gradually got on top and created a number of openings and then took a deserved lead though captain, Troy Roberts following a great ball in from Nick Rees. Half time 1-0 to Nelson.
Newport started the second half with a new keeper and shape as they pushed for an equaliser. Nelson’s back line held firm and blocked Newport’s efforts on goal. Newport had a goal disallowed by the ref for a foul. During the last 10 minutes a tired Newport allowed Nelson to take control of the game and scored a lovely goal after a brilliant run with the ball from Lee Bowgen who passed to man of the match Rob Hill who hammered in into the back of the net."

10th October
Merthyr made it 2 from 2 with an emphatic Friday night win away at Pontyclun, with Evans, Rees, McNamara and Morris on target.

28th September
In the second round of fixtures in the o50s WorkwearSupermarket.com League 2025/26, Title holders, Llanelli Town, were finally hoping to get their season off to a late start but, opponents, Cardiff Accies, were unable to field, so they were awarded a 3-0 win! The Continental continue to set the pace with another emphatic 7-0 win, this time away to Newport. Summers (3), Manley (2), Wigley and Hill on the scoresheet. Penybont also made it 2 from 2 with a 6-0 thumping away to Merthyr Tydfil.... writes Chris Davies....two depleted squads faced each other with Penybont coming out on top. Penybont’s first goal was the pick of the bunch with Steve Powell netting from 50 yards after slotting the keeper off his line. Further goals from Ceri Thomas Andy Davies and a Powell penalty saw the first half end 0-4. Ben Griffiths and Andy Davies added goals in the 2nd half which they controlled against a committed Merthyr who competed to the last despite having limited numbers.

In the match between Swansea and Nelson was a thrilling 3-3 draw...writes Millsy....In a contest full of twists and momentum swings. The visitors struck first taking the lead however, Swansea refused to let the game slip away, hitting back each time Nelson edged in front. Nelson looked to have the upper hand but, Swansea’s determination shone through and found an equaliser late on to ensure the points were shared. In the end, Nelson may feel they let a win slip after leading on three occasions while, Swansea will take pride in their resilience to fight back and secure a point.

14th September
The o50s WorkwearSupermarket.com League 2025/26 finally got underway with last season’s runners-up, The Continental, sending out a strong message with an emphatic 9-1 win over Swansea at Eastern High School. Summers bagged 4, with Manley (2), McNamara, Richard and Wigley also on target.

Merthyr Tydfil took the 3 points against Nelson...writes Ricky John... A competitive match played in terrible conditions, but a lovely tribute to Rod Powell and Dennis Murphy beforehand, two football stalwarts......
Merthyr started the better of the two sides and missed a few chances before Lynch put them ahead on the half-hour. Nelson grew into the match and scored a deserved equaliser through Roberts. In the 2nd half Merthyr pegged back Nelson and extended their lead with goals from Cope and a Ricky John brace. Nelson pulled back a late goal through Alex Harford.

Penybont beat Pontyclun 3-1 at Pencoed College with Wells, John and Powell on the scoresheet. Jenkins replied for Pontyclun. Newport defeated the Accies 3-1 through a Flanagan hat-trick. Bell replied for Accies.
