Women’s Veterans' Tournament success!

Congratulations to Cardiff Accies who maintained their good form by lifting the trophy at the pre-season Veteran’s Women’s Tournament, hosted by Cambrian United Women’s Vets.

On a sweltering July day at the superb King George V Arena in Cwmclydach, five teams from the Wales Veterans Women’s League travelled to take part in a pre-season summer Cup tournament hosted by Cambrian United Women’s Vets. Following a festival of football by over 60 ladies...the inaugural Wales Veterans Women’s League winners, Cardiff Accies, maintained their good form by lifting the trophy to secure a creditable League and Cup double.

Cardiff Accies and the hosts, who finished runners-up, were joined by Evans & Williams from Llanelli and new teams Barry Town and Mumbles Rangers for the 9-a-side ‘round robin’ tournament, and, as expected, all the fixtures were hugely competitive and of a high standard, with every player giving their all for their teams.

The physical exertions were followed by a less strenuous, refreshing drink, in the company of ‘footballing friends’...who are now busy preparing for the forthcoming season and can’t wait for it to begin!
