Teams and Fixtures
NEW League formats for 2026/27 season PLUS Fixtures for League & Cup competitions for 2026/27 season are now available!
The current Executive Committee received a vote of ‘confidence’ with a unanimous ‘En-bloc’ re-election for 2026/27.
The Executive Committee will now appoint an Operations Team to support them in the running of the Wales Vets FA.
The Legal status of the Wales Veterans’ Football Association
was re-confirmed to members as an Unincorporated Association.
It is a non-profit group bound together by a written constitution with a common objective
Rule changes
4.3.3 Referee fees: shall not exceed £45 (incl. Expenses) for o35’s- o60’s, and £40 (incl. Expenses) o65’s & o70’s.
The HOME club is (normally) responsible for the booking and payment of officials.
1.5.1 o35s League – the o35s WorkwearSupermarket.com League will be introduced, consisting of FOUR Regional Leagues. 11-a-side with 16 players listed on match-day in Comet. Teams will play each other, HOME and AWAY, over 90 minutes.
1.5.9 League winners - If teams are level on points at the end of the season, the league winner will be determined by ‘head-to-head’ results. If there is still a tie, goal difference from head to head matches will determine the winner. If there is still a tie, goal difference from league matches, followed by goals scored will determine the winner. If the teams are still tied, the award shall be shared.
4.7 Postponement of fixtures.
4.7.2 A Joker - application must be submitted to the WVFA Secretary BEFORE season start.
4.7.5 Extenuating circumstances - if the WVFA Committee considers that the request for a postponement of a fixture due to 'extenuating circumstances' is acceptable, it will be allowed. The Club must apply to the WVFA Secretary before the fixture takes place.
4.8 Non-fulfilment of fixture/Cancellation
4.8.4 - If an AWAY Club cancels a fixture, less than 7 days before the date of the fixture, they will be liable for any associated costs incurred by the offended club, including pitch hire, food and official(s). A legitimate invoice must be submitted and approved.
If the offending club fails to reimburse the offended club, as directed, they shall have their fixtures suspended until the invoice has been reimbursed to the satisfaction of the offended club.
2.2.14 Age criteria:
2.2.14.1 o35s - NO player under the age of 35 is permitted to play in any o35s fixture
2.2.14.2 o40s – No player under the age of 40 is permitted to play in any o40s fixture, APART from a goalkeeper, who must be over the age of 35.
2.2.14.3 o45s Rule retained - No player under the age of 45 is permitted to play in any o45s fixture APART from a goalkeeper, who must be over the age of 40.
Note: Rules in the o50s to o70s have not changed
