Porth advance to Shield final!

28th April
Porth Harlequins 1, Rogerstone 1 (Porth win 5-4 on pens).
A closely-fought game between two hard-working teams at Darran Park remained scoreless until the 77th minute when Haggett put Porth ahead, but 2 minutes later Griffiths equalised and the score was 1-1 after 90 minutes. The hosts advanced to the o40s Workwear Supermarket.com Shield Final, winning a penalty shoot-out 5-4. They will face the winners of Trefelin and Cascade on 6th May.

19th April
Trefelin 3, Pontymister 2
The hosts advanced to the o40s Workwear Supermarket.com SHIELD semi-finals following a closely-fought match against Pontymister at Ynys Park. With the game at 2-a-piece after goals by Lewis and James for the hosts and Talbot and Donald for the visitors, Trefelin’s Mcsweeney snatched victory at the death and a semi-final match against Cascade.

14th April
Porth Harlequins 2, Pentyrch Rangers 0
An entertaining game at Dinas Park saw the hosts deservedly take the tie with a brace from Haggett. They now face Rogerstone on 28th April in the o40s Workwear Supermarket.com SHIELD semi-final.

Dinas Powys 5, Rogerstone 5
A thriller in Penarth ending with a high-scoring draw finally being decided in Rogerstone’s favour on penalties. Dinas’ scorers were Griffiths (3), Sadler and Payne. Griffiths (2), Stu Williams, Frame and Dan James scored for the visitors who advance to the o40s Workwear Supermarket.com SHIELD semi-final, where they will face Porth on 28th April.

Cascade 5, Ynyscynon 2

A good win for the hosts at Mountain Ash with John Martin, Chris Martin, George, Greenslade and Parry on the scoresheet. Cascade face the winners of Trefelin v Pontymister in the semi-final. Brett and Huw Evans were on target for the visitors.

7th April
Aber Valley 2, Ynyscynon 2 (Ynyscynon win 2-3 on pens)
An entertaining game at Abertridwr Park saw the visitors leading 2-1 with seconds remaining after a brace from Dean until Edwards scored (his second) in injury time to force the game to penalties where the visitors secured victory and move into the quarter final to face Cascade.

Church Village 0, Cascade 5
The visitors move into the quarter finals after a convincing win at Mountain Ash. A fantastic four from Martin and a goal by Greenway secured the win and a quarter final tie against Ynyscynon.

Newport Corinthians 0, Rogerstone 1
A tight game at Newport Velodrome saw the visitors take the tie with a goal by Jenkins and they travel to Dinas Powys for their quarter final match.

Pontymister 1, Pencoed 0
The hosts edged into the quarter final after a Thomas goal sealed victory at Pontllanfraith Leisure Centre. They now travel to Trefelin next Sunday.

31st March
Cwmbran Celtics 2, Pentyrch Rangers 2
(Pentyrch win 5-3 on penalties)
In the first O40s WorkwearSupermarket.com SHIELD fixture, a good competitive game between two evenly matched sides at Celtic Park ended at 2-a-piece. The hosts took a 2 goal lead through Bailey and Surtees but Pentyrch drew level through Henders and Morgan and then went on to win the match 5-3 on penalties. They now travel to Porth Harlequins for the quarter final.
