Wales vets appear in BBC comedy Mammoth!

By Alun Huish

Such is the increasing profile of the Wales Veterans Football Association that we were asked if any of our senior players would like to work as ‘Extras’ on the second Series of the BBC comedy, Mammoth.

14 players from the WVFA were invited along to film some football action for the second series of the hit BBC comedy, Mammoth, which centres around a PE teacher from the 1970s getting a second chance at life. Whilst it was difficult to adjust to the way of the film stars, the boys enjoyed the get together and rubbed shoulders with some of the Wales’ biggest TV stars including Mike Bubbins and Sian Gibson.

One of the players involved, Mike Blackaby, was fitted with a heart pacemaker a few seasons ago after experiencing some breathing issues and by way of celebrating three years with a newly efficient functioning heart, he decided to donate his ‘BBC Mammoth’ fee to Be Heart Happy, a charity based in South East Wales whose mission is to bring comfort, hope and a healthy future to heart patients.....Mike was thanked by the Charity for his generous gesture.

Watch the action packed Episode 2 of the second series of ‘Mammoth’....where our lads are bidding for their BAFTA’S!
