The second round of games in the Wales Veterans' Football Association’s, Women’s League got underway at a wet and windy University of South Wales...and it turned out to be a super Saturday for Evans & Williams FC Ladies.
Under the guidance of ex-Wales international, Terry Boyle, the Llanelli side picked up 7 points out of a possible 9 and leapt to the top of the Women’s o35 WorkwearSupermarket.com League, defeating Penybont 1-0 in their first match with Cath Jones getting the all-important goal. League leaders, Cardiff Accies lost 0-1 to Cambrian with Charlotte Jones on the scoresheet for the Rhondda side.
Evans & Williams then defeated Cardiff Accies 2-1 with two early goals, Cath Jones again on target along with Harriet Williams. Tannetta on target for the Accies. Penybont defeated Cambrian 2-0 with an Ashton Morgan brace.

The final two matches both ended 0-0 and afterwards, all the players, including organisers, Katie Davies, Jo Davies, Stacey Netterfield and Carly Rees were delighted after another successful day of women’s veteran’s football. Jo commented “the weather was really bad, but we all enjoyed the matches...and the after-match celebrations and look forward doing it all again in February!”

The Wales Veterans' Football Association, were delighted to see the Veteran’s Women’s Football League get underway on 29th November 2025 at Pencoed College with almost 60 women from ages 35 to 55 taking part.
In the first round of 3 games, Cardiff Academicals Women leapt to the top of the Women’s o35 WorkwearSupermarket.com with an impressive 3 wins from 3. They defeated Penybont 2-0 in the first game with goals from Mcloughlin and Anderson, and then secured a 2-0 win against Evan & Williams FC from Llanelli with goals by Bartlett and Tannetta. They beat Rhondda’s Cambrian United, 3-0 with Anderson (2) and Mcloughlin again on target.
In the other games, Evan & Williams under the management of former Wales legend, Terry Boyle, beat Cambrian United 1-0 through a Leanne Williams penalty, whilst Penybont took the 3 points against Cambrian, again by a single goal, from Steph Edmunds. The final match of the day between Evan & Williams and Penybont finished all-square with Cath Jones and Murray on target for the Llanelli outfit and Boyce and Harris replying for Penybont.

The Wales Veterans FA Chairman, Alun Huish, was impressed by the commitment and skill levels saying “there was some excellent football on show and everyone played with a smile on their face.” He continued, “the benefits of team activity on physical and mental well-being are widely recorded, and we are convinced the game will grow in popularity over the coming months and the League will expand and develop.”
Organisers, Katie Davies, Jo Davies, Stacey Netterfield and Carly Rees were excited by the occasion and “can’t wait for the next round of matches in the new year”
