Wales Veterans attend CPR and defibrillator training

By Alun Huish

Wales Veterans organised a CPR and defibrillator training workshop at Jenner Park on 3rd December

The Wales Veterans’ Football Association were delighted to welcome Andrew Lindley to Jenner Park, to provide a 1hour CPR and defibrillator training workshop. Andrew is Lead Educator at the FAW Medical Department and provides training for clubs throughout Wales and the most recent workshop, held at Jenner Park in Barry, included members of Barry Town and Newport Veterans football clubs.

FAW training courses on CPR and defibrillator training are supported by Save a Life Cymru (SaLC), the NHS Wales organisation to improve cardiac arrest survival. Every year in Wales, more than 6,000 people will have a sudden cardiac arrest and around 80% of those will happen in the home, whilst over one in four of us have witnessed someone collapse and possibly need bystander CPR and defibrillation intervention.

Mike Blackaby, Wales Veterans FA, Player welfare off
icer, said “The workshop was really helpful and informative and I would encourage everyone to learn the steps that could help save a life anywhere, anytime.”
