Busy week for Wales o65s!

The Wales Veterans' Football Association accepted two invitations in the space of a week, to send an o65 Representative squad firstly to face Saundersfoot Veterans, swiftly followed by a Veterans tournament in Oxfordshire.

On the 25th August, the squad faced an enthusiastic Saundersfoot Veterans squad at the Saundersfoot Sports Club in sunny Pembroke. This annual fixture always attracts the crowds and they were not disappointed, with a clinical Welsh team too strong for their opponents. New o65s manager, Leighton Gates, was missing of a number of first-choice players, enthused "It shows that the strength of this age-group is improving, securing a fine win after an excellent performance."

Jon Williams was the pick with a fine hat-trick. Pasquantonio, Morgan, James, Davies and Miles completed the scoring. Congratulations to the following players...

Oxford o60s tournament
On 30th August, the o65s travelled to North Leigh FC for the annual, Oxford o60s tournament. Paul Averies who was deputising for manager, Leighton Gates, oversaw a mixed set of performances and results, with 3 wins, a draw and a loss. Averies said "We missed out on the main trophy, but lifted the ‘Plate’ award for a satisfying days work."
